Just as Konohamaru's rasengan took out a path of Pain, so did base Naruto's rasengan. The manga doesn't have Pain repeatedly taking blows from Naruto's 6TK form like the anime did because Pain wouldn't survive that. The anime showed Pain's body surviving things it clearly could not, like taking a punch from or being grabbed by 6TK even though
